Well finally we arrived in Brisbane...
Flight took about 7 hours and as we were only going 2 hours ahead, no real jet lag. We arrived in the George Williams hotel about 8.30pm after getting a 35 dollar taxi ride from the airport. Hungry, we went in search of food and got a Hungry Jacks (Burger King to all you lot back home). On our 1st full day in Brisbane we set about getting all the important stuff organised - So we now have a bank account with Bank West, got our visa stamped on our passport, applied for a tax file number (So we don't get taxed 47% if we ever get round to getting a job - it is so easy not working......)
We also realised there is a 7 Eleven on every single corner of Brisbane.(Open 24hrs) We then searched for accomodation and found a quite plush hostel called Tin Billys (Apparently best in Brisbane) although i don't know if it was the lovely hostel that caught our eye - more Ciara seeing blue WKD out of the corner of her eye. Anyway we will be staying in the hostel that is next door to the pub (also owned by the hostel) that sells blue WKD for the next week. Of course we are not slumming it as we are staying in our own room with tv and shower for $350 for the week (about 150 quid) - It is cheaper if you book for week - plus discount as it is next to the tv room/laundry room and kitchen.
The hostel is also full of bloody Irish - can't get away from them. That night we proceeded to get drunk - both of us.. (Ciara with her blue and Paul with his $7 jugs of beer) Friday we basically just moved from hotel to hostel, went to the musuem and clock tower with view of Brisbane city centre and then watched the Da vinci code at the cinema. Ciara's friend Linzi and boyfriend Sandon are meeting up with us tomorrow plus we need to do some back packer stuff, like buying some food for hostel and cutlery to eat it with... Although Tin Billys does do a great $5.50 steak and chips so we may have the odd treat.
