Where I stayed
Did a lot of walking yesterday (Saturday) went for a long walk down Sunset to the guitar center. Wandered around and then got the bus home.
Rob had left a message inviting us to go on a pub crawl downtown with some of his friends so we thought...why not!
Al was our driver for the evening and we met up with Heather, Miguel, Ernie and Billy- excellent group - some real characters from the TV/Movie industry in LA.
Hit the first bar 'The Redwood' at around 8pm - this was a pirate bar. Very good - had two drinks there and moved onto the Seven Grand - full of guns and taxidermy and tartan - very expensive - only had one drink there
Moved on to the Broadway which was conveniently located on a street with a TV pilot film set... Just the one drink there and onto Bar107...super packed and only one loo per gender! - punky old school stuff - crazy packed and we had a booth with a wonky table...
Very bizarre walking around downtown - the bars are packed but the streets are deserted expect for the odd homeless person??? The Valley it is not...but they say in five years it will be pumping.
Last stop was an old place that was ripped out, cleaned and put back in recently- called Cole's. There is a speakeasy in the back but was to busy to get into. It is an old sandwich bar from the 20's. Had food here - we shared an apple pie. Saw one of the Olsen twins leaving who could have been with a Veronica - not sure - looked like one of them.
Wandered in at 2am which was actually 3am due to the clocks going forward for daylight savings.
A brilliant night was had by all!
