After a sleep in the next day we wandered down to the ferry and got on the next boat. It happened to be going just across to Varenna. Varenna was even smaller than Bellagio and once we arrived we wandered over to a quaint little café which was situated right on the lake and had an espresso and breakfast. It was just so peaceful sitting there, watching the lake with very little noise in the background, sipping our coffees
After our great breakfast we wandered around the small town of Varenna and ended up at some botanical gardens, which were lovely, but nothing like some of the gardens in Australia!
We then took a huge walk up a nearly vertical hill to get to an old Castle. This castle was different from all the other ones weve seen as they housed and trained Birds of Prey. They are still training the birds of prey which is interesting. Basically the birds are trained to attack any predators or attackers.
We saw a huge owl and all the other birds looked pretty vicious, like they could do some real damage!
After the castle we headed back to Bellagio, had a swim and had a nice dinner where we met an American couple who seemed to take a liking to us and shouted us drinks all night to try and keep us talking to them! haha.
The next day we went across to a town called Menaggio (on a ferry of course) and played minigolf by the lake. It was really fun and Paul beat Ashe by 1 shot - very close game!
Lunch here was amazzzzzing - delicious seafood pasta with a refreshing bottle of white.
The next day we hung around Bellagio, did some shopping, sipped on plenty of espressos while sitting over the lake and swam.
That night we had a yummy pizza sitting on a park bench overlooking the lake.
The next day we were very sad to be leaving as we really had a great time at Bellagio and would recommend it to everyone! The only regret is that we didn't stay longer :(
