it has been very freeing knowng that I can negotiate a foreign city with nothing more than a map and a hope that someone will speak English.
Tomorrow, we are off to Russia......totally pumped.
Today we got off the 'ferry' in Helsinki. What an early morning to a late night. We took a city tour by bus and saw the monument to Sibelius, a famous Finish composer. It was very much like an organ with stainless steel pipes rising into the sky. Then, the state square with the beautiful Lutheran church. At 11, Corralee aand I and Paula from Australia went off on foot....first to the flea market where I tried reindeer.....a bit chewy but not like any other kind of wild meat i have ever tasted...quite mild. Then. off to the antique market, back to State Square and the Lutheran Cathedral which was massive and lovely. Down the street to the Othadox church and then back to the pick up pont.
