Where I stayed
Links Hostel, Lima
Following our good byes with Alex's parents at the airport I figured Alex could do with cheering up. So, Being only 10 minutes into our year out I bought her her first souvenir; a little Paddington Bear. It seemed rather apt with our first stop being Peru.
The flight to Madrid was fine and uneventful, as was the connection with our flight to Lima. We booked exit seats and so I was very pleased to see I had about 10 ft of leg room to stretch out in. They don't get that much room in Business Class, ha! Although, I'm pretty sure they would have had better food. I was treated to some form of meat burger thing and green... stuff, and Alex had a pasta dish that was truly horrible! The dessert was nice though.
After 11 long hours of failed attempts to sleep, a couple of films and views of the ocean and the Amazon rainforest, we started our decent into Lima. The Andes were an awesome sight and the sunset right at the end of our flight was spectacular. It was a very nice ending.
Once landed we located our bags, passed immigration and found a taxi. Once out of the airport we were treated to a symphony of beeps, honks and horns. The roads were organised chaos and Peruvians seem to communicate by horn. It was constant. Also, the drive was terrifying. If I didn't fel liked I'd fall asleep any minute I'd have shut my eyes!
We made it through the journey and arrived at Links Hostel. We checked in and shown around with no problems. Once we were shown to our rooms we worked out that we had been awake for over 25 hours and it was definitely bed time. I vaguely remember saying good night to Alex and I was asleep before my head hit the pillow.
