Where I stayed
To get away from the crowds we caught a gondola taxi (50cents) across the Grand Canal to the tip of the southern part of Venice, next to Campo della Salute
Following lunch we made our way back to Campo Santi (near the hospital) to try and get some views of the mountains but it was too misty to see anything in the distance. It gave us opportunity to have another ice cream though and retake some photos in the sunshine again.
We then tried to get back to the coast in the south but somehow got VERY lost. I didn't have slue where we were! Eventually we stumbled back onto the map and ended up at the Arsenale. We then decided to take a really nice long walk along the coast and sat down to watch the sun set. It was beautiful with sun going down behind the Venetian skyline.
In the evening we went out to Campo St Margherita and the Orange Bar again. In the square we found another DJ but this time playing good rocky music, more our style. Throughout the night we tried a few of the bars as well as trying a Venetian drink called Spritz. It's made with sparkling wine, lemonade and then either an orange coloured apple spirit or Campari. Having never tried them before we ordered one of each. The apple one was sweet and very tasty but the Campari was bitter and horrible. It did make drinking it very funny though. After making faces at the Campari spritz we went for a dance and some pizza slices. We finished the night rather tipsy but it was an excellent day and a perfect way to finish a brilliant weekend.
Thank you Alex
