Woke up on the 23rd Dec and will go to bed on the 22nd!
Managed to get the 5.15am shuttle with no problem. Another couple in it were on the same flight and were also heading to Easter Island on the same flight too.
Couldnīt see our flight no on large screen and started to panic but Air Tahiti had code shared with Air NZ so we were on another NZ plane :) We had a better selection of films for our 4.5 hour flight
We were given a tiare flower when arriving at the airport and when we found the transfer desk we were welcomed with a flower garland.
Our hotel is about 8km from Papeete but probably about 2km from the airport. We checked in to find we had been upgraded and we now have a room with a view of Maeva beach, swimming pool and in the distance, Moorea.
We went exploring and found a supermarket nearby which was big and busy. It took us a while to figure out why it was busy - last minute shopping!! We made a beeline for the bakery and found brioche, pain au chocolate, croissants and baguettes. Just round the corner was a huge cheese counter where we managed to find some Brie.
We took our food back to the room and decided to head into Papeete for dinner. We managed to get Le Truck into town which was pretty cool
We found the roulettes pretty quickly. There was so much choice: crepe, pizza, poission cru, chinese, hong kong, tahitian that we couldnīt make a choice and had to wander around a few times. We finally chose the HK roulette and I had steak and frites and Paul had poission aux legumes. It was pretty tasty and the portions were huge. Sadly it did start to rain so we shuffled under the roulettes cover and carried on eating.
We eventually made it back to the hotel after getting confused with the Le Truck route (they donīt have a route map or anything like that and you can flag them down when you see them.

Hmm, de ja vu!We were given a tiare flower when arriving at the airport and when we found the transfer desk we were welcomed with a flower garland.

Room in the hotel
. Itīs the Tahitian public transport which is a truck with side benches in the back. The windows are open so there is excellent airconditioning. We found the roulettes pretty quickly. flowers :)
The room looks lovely, so good to get an upgrade!
I am jealous... always wanted to be greated somewhere with a flower garland!
