15 - 17 Feb
We splashed out on our hotel in Mendoza and decided to do absolutely nothing here apart from eat, drink and sleep and it was fantastic. The hotel has air con and cable (inc BBC World!) so our siestas became quite a lot longer :)

We did manage to walk around the centre a couple of times whilst here. All the streets have huge trees which provide excellent shade (much needed here as it is very hot/humid most of the time). They also have huge irrigation drains which were pretty deep so you had to pay attention where you were walking! We walked through three of the plazas; my favourite being Espaņa as nearly everything was tiled including the benches which made them pretty uncomfortable to sit on.

In the evenings the plazas where full of market stalls selling lots of random stuff. We still havenīt quite got the hang of eating at 11-12 at night and staying up until 2-3am. Even 7yr olds were doing this better than us!

Mendoza is pretty special for us as we are now on the same latitude as Santiago, Chile where we first landed. Since then we have: taken one plane, 18 buses (88 hours), four boats, made three border crossings, and travelled about 3,000km.
