Sat 9 Feb
The drive to Neuquen was about 6 hours and our little
Fiat Uno was overtaken a lot as when Paul hit 110kph it started to
shake! The speed limits here are completely ignored as they are stupid.
At one point we were on a main highway when we saw a 20kph sign, there
was no reason for it (no turn off, or bend in road) so everybody
ignored it. Also they never tell you when you get to the end of a
restricted zone either.

The reason we wanted to go to Neuquen
was to see dinosaur bones and some footprints, which are about 70km
south of Neuquen at Villa el Chocon (and one of the reasons for hiring
the car).

We went to the museum first and saw a nearly complete
skeleton of a Gigantosarus which was pretty cool. We were having
trouble finding the site for the footprints and were told it was 3km
south of Villa Chocon. We couldnīt see the turn off but eventually
found it...even though there was no sign for one of their biggest
attractions! Unfortunately the footprints donīt stand out very well in
the photos but they were impressive.

We stayed in a hotel on the
main street so it was quite noisy, especially when a wedding procession
went by as they all honked their car horns. Didnīt mind this at 9pm but
they continually did this throughout the night until 4am. Not
impressed!!

The rental car guy arrived a day early so we handed over the car and are now back on public transport!

Sun 10 Feb
Lazy
day today as we had such a crap nights sleep. Most shops were closed
today as it is Sunday so not much to do. We did walk to the bus station
to book our tickets to San Rafael and after a siesta we went to an art
gallery which had excellent air conditioning :)
