20th Jan
Unfortunately we hadnīt spotted that the hotel was right next to a Discoteque and Pub. With it being Saturday night they didnīt shut till atleast 4 with al the music and shouting I didnīt get much sleep (Lucy can sleep through most things).
We got up and tried to find out whether we could still get the boat on Monday (it was now Sunday morning). While we were waiting for it to open I saw a bus from Chalten Travel (who we had used to get up to Los Antiguos). I ran out of the hotel and managed to catch it and yes it really was going to Coyhaique.
Lucy and I were overjoyed and packed and checked out of the hotel for another 10 hour journey over gravel rounds. Going round the lake again was really tedious but when we finally went past the crossroads (where we had waited and waited) we started to see some lovely views again.
21 Jan
Finally in Coyhaique! We really quite like this town, itīs got a nice laid back feel to it. Weīve been debating about whether to rent a car and travel up the Carretera Austral but it is too expensive and a lot of planning (as we would need to arrange for someone to travel to Chaiten, meet them and hand over the car) and our spanish is not really up to it. We think we understand most conversations but not always!
We have now booked onto a bus to Chaiten on 23 Jan which will be 10 hours on gravel road!
