"In the heart of Southeast Asia an idyllic kingdom once prospered, forgotten now except by those whose roots lay there. Below the rugged mountains and deserts of central Asia, with no access to the sea, its position was that of a backwoods crossroads. With many cultural influences significant in Asian history impacting on life there, it became an important cradle of civilization, from which significant styles in writing, music, weaving, swordplay and husbandry emerged. Its name meant, "Land of a million rice fields"." Page 6 Lost Lanna Found by Joel J Barlow.

Hi. All is good. Kitty is doing well. She is eating, sleeping and pooing a lot. Her little bit of umbilical cord has dropped off. Her jaundice is almost gone. She is cute and mainly happy. Sometimes grumpy when she wants milk NOW! But mainly cries very little.

Kanchana is good.

I am good. Exhausted again as I write this. I hope and think I am being helpful to Kanchana in looking after Kitty, although I have only changed her a handful of times, as Kanchana seems to be on top of things. I do other useful bits though. Hmmm, although I would really largely prefer not to have a career in changing nappies, it is amazing that changing your own babies nappy and cleaning her is not at all a problem nor dirty nor smelly.

Alif is doing OK. Vava is on the bus from Chiang Rai as I write this. She went for an event with her new school. Khun Na went with her and she also caught up with Pookie in Chiang Rai and visited Mirror to pass a present to Jam who has had a baby.

I have had a couple of successful work meetings. About 4 or 5 days ago as I was reading the news coming out of Tibet, I noticed the article was quoting and American and it mentioned he runs a medical NGO. I Googled the name of the NGO and it looked OK. I wrote an email to him to see if he would be interested in helping the Hill Tribe people in Northern Thailand. I got an answer back that he was now in Bangkok, was interested and wanted to meet. We eventually arranged a time and met. It is looking good that we'll get some medical support from that to the people in Northern Thailand. I have lots of ideas on how we can utilise that a lot.

The next day I had another meeting with another guy that emailed me. I hadn't put much thought into the meeting until it happened, but as it happened the guy was very good. A Cambodian refugee to USA that is now back in Cambodia. He has a couple of groups that want to learn about human trafficking issues that he'll be bringing to us. He also may have some extra work and pay for me and he was just generally a good guy and interesting to talk to. Works for AUSAID and the UN sometimes and charges them about US$300 - 400 per day. Hmmm, maybe eventually I should do that???

Otherwise all is good. It is school holidays here and Thai New year is coming. So many of the food shops have closed while the owners go back to their provinces to visit family and have a break. We have therefore eaten fried chicken three nights in a row. Hmmm, bit over it.

Kanchana's aunt is here to help us get her to throw her junk out. She is still annoying although less so as she is helping us. She is going home tomorrow. And tomorrow we'll go get Kitty a Thai passport.

Her Thai citizenship was sorted out by the hospital. We have already registered her as living at our house with us and will get her a passport tomorrow. So that is all the Thai bureaucratic stuff dealt with. We are also trying to get her recognised as an Australian citizen and Mark has helped us with that and we are waiting for the mail from Australia to see if we can do that before we leave for Chiang Rai (on the 2nd or 3rd of April.).

That's it. Happy Easter
