I just spent almost two months in Chiang Rai working for Mirror Foundation. Actually I worked 45 days straight (long days) without a day off - but who is counting.

What did I do while I was there???? Before I forget most of it, I will tell you.

Firstly I worked with four USA volunteers that come from North Carolina. They were with us for a couple of weeks teaching to a school about an hour from Chiang Rai town. So I looked after them and went to school with them each day and helped them out. In the middle weekend, we did a trip to Baan Yafu also with the first of the Oxford group, which gave me a chance to chat to them.

After the USA guys left, I had a meeting with the 1st Oxford group to see how things were going. There was a general feeling on our behalf that things with them hadn't been perfect, so I tried to figure out what we could change for the next group and then when the next Oxford group came, I briefed them and spent the first week with them. That first week was mainly about them doing homestays and visiting villages, child care facilities, schools, and the medical centre to get an understanding of the life and problems of the people here. They would then spend two more weeks teaching basic health care to villages and schools in the area. They were a good group.

Then I stayed in Mirror Foundation and worked on the computer - meeting with a Dutch company called Kommando, writing up a proposal for a competition to get funding, talking to Jazz for Peace - who said they'd do a concert or two in benefit of us, but have since been very quiet, helping Thellie organise and write a newsletter for Mirror Foundation, and other stuff.

Oh, Ken, a volunteer from Antipodeans came and I looked after him, although mainly the Thai staff took him to school each day. Lindsey from England came and I asked her to produce a guide to teaching for volunteers - she did an excellent job and did some other stuff also. Simon and Annette - a couple from Australia came and I got them producing some promotional/explanation videos for us.

I have probably forgot some stuff, but that is the sort of things I have been involved with in the 45 days. Feels good that we have got a lot achieved in that time and a number of other things are coming along. So a good but tiring time.

Thanks for all the help of the great group of volunteers.

See ya
