OK, last one.
On the 9th I got a lift with Julie the journalist back to Chiang Mai. She was booked into a 5 star resort and had a driver to take her there all as part of her job. Soon she caught up with me again and admitted that she wasn't happy in the resort. Everything was perfect but she missed the "real" people and the warmth and friendliness and happiness of the people at Mirror Art and in the Hill Tribes. 5 star resorts, although they have their place, can never compete with that. From Chiang Mai I got back to Bangkok. I had to fly as there were no train seats available and I don't think my back would have enjoyed the bus ride.
Soon Alex and Rhiannon came and visited. That also reminds me that Tallis and Nina visited just before my trip North. Between returning home and Alex visited, Kanchana, the kids, 1 of Vava's friends and I went to Pattaya and on the way went to the Pattaya Open Plain Zoo. There are pictures attached of the zoo. I don't think much of Pattaya, but the zoo, which is on the way to Pattaya from Bangkok (look out for a left hand turn off) is pretty good. The price is fair and the conditions for both humans and animals is reasonable. Next - on Tues I will drive up to Chiang Rai. I have two volunteers coming from Antipodeans. They are staying for 10 days and working at Mirror Art Foundation. On the drive up hopefully I will get to quickly look at Sukhothai and Pitsanulok.
Then in May the kids holidays will start and Kanchana will finish at her work and we will get ready to go to Nepal. I won't write any more of these before we get back from Nepal. If you have read this far I am sure you deserve a break. Sorry I have complained a lot in the last lot of these. I am using it as a way to vent I suppose. But mainly life is good and we are pretty happy. That's all More thumbnails ...
