Joke from Australia:
Bruce is driving over the Sydney Harbour Bridge one day when he sees his girlfriend Sheila about to throw herself off. Bruce slams on the brakes and yells, "Sheila, what the hell d'ya think ya doin?".
Sheila turns around with a tear in her eye and says, "G'day Bruce. Ya got me pregnant and so now I'm gonna kill meself."
Bruce gets a lump in his throat when he hears this.
"Sheila," he says, "not only are ya a top shag, but you're a real sport too", and drives off.
Sawat Dii Khrap from The Kingdom of Thailand.
(I have come via a visit to Vietnam, I will write about that soon.)
I am back. Everything is good. Kanjana is good, her Mum is good, the kids are good.
Kanjana has just started teaching a new term. She has a new venue to teach at and because the students think she is a very kind hearted teacher, about 100 people turned up to sign onto her Sunday classes. As well as teaching on Sunday, she goes to Ramkamheang University to study English on Saturdays and she works in the office of Non-Formal Education from Monday to Friday. I would eventually like her to work less, but she doesn't seemt to want to yet.
Alif is good and has been doing very well in Tae Kwon Do and is now also doing better in school. Perhaps he will have a chance to be selected to compete in the national championships in Tae Kwon Do
Vava is good. She has stopped Tae Kwon Do. She is no longer in the top 5% of her class, but she is still doing well. Kanjana gives her about 20 Baht per day for lunch and snacks (although lunch is provided for free by the school) and from that and from the occassional gift, she has managed to save and deposit over 7000 Baht in her bank account.
Kanjana's Mum is good. Yesterday I brought a bag of cooked grasshoppers and cockroachers for her and she was very happy. It reminded her of when she was a child and she used to collect them. I suppose it is not that unusual, as my grandmother in Australia likes to eat sheeps' brains and other things, that she used to eat as a child.
We have purchased an electric heater for the shower and now can have hot showers, which has been very popular with the kids, especially Vava.
Hmmm, what else? The single room is starting to feel very cramped. I haven't really been able to fully unpack as yet as there just isn't room for everything. So I am still living out of my bag to some extent which I don't want to. Therefore we have been looking for houses again in this area. We have found a few good ones. (oh - the old woman has sold the other one we were looking at a few months ago). So far I think Kanjana has decided she likes a two storey 4 bedroom house that is not too far away from here and costs 1.2 million Baht. So maybe we'll try to buy that soon.
See ya
