We go and try and find the temple we couldn't find yesterday and realise it's not the one on the postcard and is in fact ready to fall down, before waiting for the bus to come and pick us up to take us to Pai. On the bus we overhear a couple behind us say that he is from Shropshire or to be more precise Bridgnorth although that's as far as the conversation goes until we reach Pai. We go with the couple to find accommodation recommended by an Englishwoman who lives in Pai, we have to walk over a bamboo bridge with our backpacks and it feels like every step will result in us plummeting into some dark unknown due to it being pitch black, or maybe just the river two feet below. The rooms are basic in the extreme with just a mattress and a mosquito net so we try somewhere else and manage to get the last room. We walk for what seems like miles to go to an 'authentic' Thai restaurant as recommended by the book but it's average with an old Thai man very stressed due to him being the only one working that night. We head back to town and meet the couple again who are called Simon and Brenda who's from Holland. We have a few beers with them and talk constantly with them for a couple of hours getting on really well with them before we go to bed (not with them obviously).
