During breakfast with Jason and Ronnie we witness a street fight between a couple of children which starts with an argument develops into a fist fight, progresses to them both picking up planks of wood to one of them picking up an axe and a knife. Luckily just as it looks like it's getting serious some tuk tuk drivers separate them. After that excitement we get taken to the Killing Fields going through a suburb which is all shanty town with dilapidated buildings lined up along the river and with a sewage pipe leading directly into it. We arrive at the site and first see a monument with hundreds maybe thousands of human skulls inside with it being a humbling experience as I've never seen this kind of thing before with death staring me in the face. We walk solemnly on with little signs explaining where different rooms were originally when the site was in operation. As we walk around the silence is eerie with graves just left without being filled in and grass and weeds covering them now. We notice that there's clothes from victims still buried within some of the graves. There's two trees one of which was used to put loudspeakers on so as to drown out the noises of the victims dying/being tortured. The other was disgustingly used as a killing weapon by swinging children head first against the trunk mainly to save bullets. Overall we're there for 40 minutes and by the end it's affected us all. Maybe not the most humane thing to do after witnessing all this is to go to a firing range but that's what we do with you being able to fire all sorts of arsenal including grenades. I had my heart set on firing a bazooka but it worked out at $200 which is out of our budget so Jason and I go halves on firing an AK-47 magazine. The menu is funny with the list of guns listed and amounts with a drinks menu at the bottom. The firing is fun and I'm surprised how powerful the gun is, with the last three bullets on automatic which is even more intense. We go back to the city and visit the S-21 museum which is where prisoners were kept before being sent to the Killing Fields. We walk around the museum mainly in silence as it's a horrific experience with examples of the cells that prisoners were kept in and gruesome pictures depicting the deaths of a few. After we get some dinner with all 4 of us having ostrich going back to the hotel to rest before going to a bar to take advantage of happy hour where we're joined by another English couple Gemma and Mike. We have a few jugs between us before we go to a club called 'Heart Of Darkness' which before entering we get aggressively frisked. The music's pretty rubbish but we dance stupidly all night even me taking me back to club nights at Rumours, we all have a really brilliant time having lots of fun with us leaving at 4am the next morning.
