Day 14

Nic has been bit 10 times in the night and they have ballooned up, don't know what's wrong with my skin but i seem to be getting away with it at the moment, i keep this musing to myself. We take a bus to the train station which in keeping with the others we have seen resembles an airport, what the hell do their airports look like? NASA? We're on a bullet train to Shanghai which is amazing loads of leg room and reaches a speed of 204km which when looking out of a window is fucking fast! We arrive at Shanghai and it is daunting we go round the buses and none of them are the right one, this we discover is because we're on the wrong side we go over the bridge and my 1st near death moment occurs when I'm almost run over by a bus, seriously it was centimeter's, this would have been in keeping with the rock stars death of 27 but i really wanted to make 28 and dispel the myth. The traffic is minging stuck on a bus for ages, we get off at the bus stop told to us but we have no idea where we're going, so after asking at another hotel we get a taxi to take us showing him the address. The worrying thing is that the driver doesn't seem to know where it is and has to stop and ask a couple of times random people in the street with me pointing to the place name sort of a 'Challenge Paul' but with a taxi instead of a helicopter. Once we dumped our stuff we find this great restaurant which is called a hotpot place where you order your food raw and cook it in this boiling pot of stock heated in the middle by seriously hot coal. It's really nice and great that we finally know exactly what meat we're eating. We walk to The Bund afterwards which is now lit up and and is amazing, okay so it's a large group of skyscrapers all lit up but the combination of them all is really a great sight and we stand for 5 minutes just taking the scene in. We walk to the end of The Bund and then walk home back to the hostel where we meet completely by chance Ed again. We catch up over a couple of beers and agree to meet up tomorrow for my birthday.
