Not really anything to do with the journey this, but just a few thoughts about yesterday when I left my job as a teacher. Although I suppose it is part of the bigger journey........

Lets not beat around the bush here, being a teacher is bloody hard at times and without great people around you it could easily become too much. Yesterday I said a temporary (I hope) goodbye to some very great people who I am extremely privileged to call friends. The science department has been the centre of my working life for the last 5 years and I have experienced every conceivable challenge that teaching can throw at you. On many occasions I have come close to just walking away, but I didn't because of the un-wavering support of my friends and colleagues. I won't mention any names here I case you don't want them splashed all over the Internet, but you know who you are. I will miss you all very much. Despite going on this amazing adventure, there will always be a void where you all once were. Thank you for everything.

I was also very moved and humbled yesterday by the number of good wishes, cakes(!), presents and cards that I received from many of my students. You made leaving very, very hard for me! I hope that I have managed to make some positive impact on your lives and I wish you all the very best of everything in the future. Do yourselves proud please!!!
