Over the last few days I have been called a 'git' and a 'jammy sod' amongst other things since going public at work with this blog. I know that it's all good natured (well most of it is), but I actually do feel like a bit of a git as not many people have this opportunity and I wonder if I should have kept quiet about it, but doing this trip has thrown up all sorts of unexpected feelings and experiences. With just a few weeks left I thought it was time for a quick update.

A few of the more mundane tasks have now been completed. Charlotte has taken and passed her IELTS exam and has now proved that she can speak and understand English well enough to work as a nurse in New Zealand! Our flat has been let to a new tennant and we have started to pack our stuff into boxes. Our final trip to the Isle of Fright is scheduled for next weekend to see my Dad and brother and we have made a final trip to Cotswolds to buy the last few remaining items of travel gear. We must have spent thousands in that place! Thank god for our Youth Hostel membership which gives us 15% discount!

One slightly worrying thing is that, having packed everything into our rucksacks, they seem incredibly heavy and we are going to hike in the Grand Canyon in 100F heat with them!!  A bit of thinning out might be required before departure!! Still, how few pairs of pants can you realistically get away with??? I will get back to you on that one.........

Hi Paul
you are a jammy git & the green eyed monster is raging within me but so what, if people are a bit hacked at work then they should have the ballistics to get out there and do something about it. I would myself but I had my passport taken away for some minor incident, gun running or white slave trading I can't remember.

Have Fun
