Where I stayed

Took the train from Milan .. the trains are so convenient and inexpensive. We stayed in Rapallo which was a central location to explore the Italian Riviera coastline. The boat south had stopped for the summer but we could still take a boat to Portofino and Santa Margaurita both charming seaport towns. Coastline is just magnificent and again so was the weather. The next day we took the train to the Cinque Terre area. Even though we did not do the traditional walk between the towns there was lots of walking up to these unbelievable towns carved out of the coastline. The towns seem to have stood still in time. Vineyards cover the hills in all directions which make the area scenic anyway you look!
