After a camel BBQ on our last night in Damascus we took off for Aleppo where we spent some time wandering about the huge old souk. Camped in an orange orchard in the most violent storm I've ever seen, we all had to climb into the truck to escape it!We checked out Crac De Chevelair, an 800 year crusader castle, very cool! We then crossed into Turkey, staying in Goreme, Cappadocia. We were up at 5am on our first day to go hot air ballooning over the rock pinnacles that formed there from toughened vocanic matter eroded over a long period of time. that was one of the coolest things we've done while travelling. it was -6 degrees over night so there was a bit of snow around which made it even prettier, and our dorm room at "Flinstones Pension" is an actual cave with beds in it! We saw the Whirling Dervishes in Goreme as well and plenty of belly dancing.....
