Another opportunity to sleep in! Everyone was so happy to hear that the wake up call would not be until 8:00am. A few opted to get up a little earlier to so they could be a part of the 8am Starbucks run.
Brett picked us up at 10am in time for our 10:30 appointment at the National Opal Collection to learn about Australia's National Gemstone (and my birthstone!) We watched a video which taught us about fossilization and how they believe opals came to Australia. The video also showed us about opal mining in Australia, and the students learned how the opals are finished and prepared for sale. After the video, the students were turned loose to roam the store and make their purchases.
Our next stop was Darling Harbour where we caught our Sydney Harbour lunch cruise. It was such a picture perfect day! We couldn't have asked for better weather to enjoy the sites as we cruised Sydney Harbour. After MANY photos, we were back on dry land. Our next destination was the Sydney Tower Eye.
We took a very short coach ride to our next destination - the Westfield Mall in Sydney where the Sydney Tower was located. The ride up to the Observation Tower was surprisingly short - it only took 44 seconds to get to the top. And it was quite possibly the smoothest elevator ride I had ever been on! We could hardly tell the elevator was moving!
The views of Sydney were BREATHTAKING! We were divided into three groups for our turn on the SkyWalk. Those views were even MORE BREATHTAKING... if that was even possible! Thank goodness the skies were clear!
Our last dinner was at the Hard Rock Cafe. We had a little time after the Sydney Tower for everyone to go back to their hotel rooms and change, so we did. Once changed, we got on the coach and rode back to Darling Harbour for the last time.
