We stopped for lunch at Gin Gin State School. Gin Gin has been hosting People to People groups for several years, and through our partnership, the school has been able to raise money to provide the students with a beautiful playground, updated technology, and wonderful facilities - things that may not have been possible for this small farm community otherwise.
Unfortunately, with it being a Saturday, there were no students at the school
We were back on the Bruce Highway (the main road that runs up and down the Eastern Coast of Australia for the rest of our journey down to our hotel just outside of Brisbane. We arrived at our hotel just in time to get settled in our rooms and enjoy some free time at the pool or go to Macca's (McDonald's) for their free wifi before it was time to have dinner.
Unfortunately, the Macca's free "wifi" idea was a bust. 20+ people invading McD and turning on their mobile devices all at the same time was a bad idea. Noone was able to log on. I even stayed on after the students gave up and went back to the hotel to see if it would work when there was not as many people trying to get online, and even that didn't work. Oh well...
OHHH how we all wished that we could have stayed at this hotel longer. Actually, "hotel" is the wrong word for this place! The rooms at the Sebel in Maroochydore were more like apartments
Since this hotel was designed to be more like apartments with full kitchens, there was no restaurant attached like other places we had been staying. But we ended up eating at a place closeby, just around the corner. It was a Gluten-Free establishment, and their food was pretty darn good! I thoroughly enjoyed the chicken curry and rice dish I ordered, and their chocolate brownie cake was to die for!
Beccah told us that snacky foods was super expensive at our next destination (Tangalooma Resort) so we decided to walk the group down the street to 7-11 so they could "stock up". That 7-11 never saw our P2P Tornado coming! It was like a cyclone! They were snatching up Tim Tams and lollies left and right! Krispy Kreme donuts were an especially big hit (ah, the comforts of home, I guess). And everyone seemed to leave happy.
Everyone was happy to go back to the hotel to spend the night enjoying the AMAZING hotel room and do a load of laundry (especially since it was free!!)
