We arrive into Nakhon Pathom in the early evening and have time to visit the Phra Pathom Chedi, which is the the first religious landmark to signified the influx of Buddhism into Thailand.  It is a large domed building with a hugh gold budda inside.

We stop in at the 7eleven on the way back to the train station for snacks and drinks for the overnight train to Surat Thani and soon we are bumbling our way onto the carriage.  There is only just enough space for all our big backpacks and shortly we are all nicely settled into our bunks for the 10 hour journey.  This train has a disco bar carriage so we go to check it out, but it only serves beer so i head back to find the booze i had bought from the 7eleven and sit reading enjoying my drink and snacks.
