Well i have finished my time with the schools in Jaipur and while i am very sad to be leaving the good friends i have made there and venturing out on my own again, i m excited to be moving on and starting a new part of my travels.
I am in Goa now for 6 days before i travel to Bangalore to start the Southern Indian experience - another i-to-i trip, but comunity work instead of teaching english. We also are not staying in the same place for a month we are moving around the south doing different activities. I have already had email converstations with the other 2 girls on the trip and i think we will get along great.
I am staying in Anjuna in the north of Goa, in a hotel called Villa Anjuna. The room is nice, spacious and clean, unfortunately it is not airconditoned and it is deffinitely warmer here at night, but there is fan so i am coping. I chose this hotel as it has a pool, which is lovely and clean!!
I decided to spend today by the pool reading one of their books (as i have read all of mine already - and Dad i loved the Colour of Money book, very John Grissam ish!) and carefully getting some colour on to my legs!!
At lunch time as i moved into the cafe area to have a sandwich i saw anothr girl sitting by herself and asked if i could sit with her. Emma is in India travelling for just 2 weeks, though she has spent the last 10 years travelling on and off so we get along great! Emma is staying in Anjuna for 4 days leaving on Friday, where as i leave on Saturday, and we decide to team up for company. We sit by the pool for most of the afternoon and then head to the beach to watch the sunset.
As we make our way to the beach we accidently wander into the devils lair - hundred of stands all selling anklets, bracelets and necklaces with Indian women pulling on your arms to go to their stand. They are all asking you at once to come to their stands and are upset when you don't buy anything - "you have not made me happy today".
They are all commenting on how white we are - Emma is fair skinned like me and as we have only been here one day it is not supprising, but they keep saying - "you are like a white chicken!" which off course makes us want to buy from them! We buy a anklet (big mistake now they are all worse) and a pair of earrings before extracting ourselves and finding the right path to the beach.
There are more stalls on the way to the beach, but these are bigger with clothes and hats and they don't pester you as much. We wonder down the beach and it is beautifull, with bars all along the edge and a few more stands dotted along. Just before sunset we find a bar and sit down to enjoy the view.
After sunset we walk back to a resturant we had passed earlier and had a lovely meal with seafood and cocktails.
Tomorrow we are relaxing on the beach and Wednesday off to the flea market, am enjoying my mini holiday before getting back to volunteering in Bangalore.
xx.
