Parque do Gruta - Had the chance to finally go back to Parque de Gruta
in Santa Cruz do Sul (see entry ... man do my thumbs hurt!) and yes, I followed the rough trail through the woods, climbed up a few rocks, but eventually, whew, found the waterfall. My pants legs and shoes were full of mud and there was a decent amount of climbing uphill, and it was so worth it. This is not a marked trail by any means, so you just keep looking for where people have walked before, believe that it's there and eventually you just get there. Many times I thought, this is a little dangerous (not really ... more like my American need to always feel safe and secure) then I remembered my personal slogan: Live life as dangerously as possible. Live life totally, intensely, passionately, because except for life there is no other God-Bhagwan
So glad I did ... and that I'm a decent climber.
Afterwards in the Parque, a group of wild monkeys came out to play.
At first there was just one coming out of the trees. My first thought was that he had escaped from the park and was the only one living in the trees nearby, but then 1 turned into 5, and then 5 became 15. There were babies with their moms, the works, all coming out to find an afternoon snack in the trash. It was obvious that this was not a first time thing, either. It was almost closing time in the park and they knew it. Everybody there (me included) was trying to get a good picture and almost no one could. They were a little camera shy. Even though there were around 15 little monkeys roaming the park, it was obvious that there were still a few more in the trees who weren't as brave. I was stunned. They have monkeys here. I don't know why they wouldn't, this is Brazil right. Later I wanted to confirm with friends and yes, monkeys live in Brazil and from what I know roadside food sellers or fruit vendors hate them. I wonder why? Hehe! I found them most entertaining and a wonderful way to have the sun come down.
Lux Luv - Last night I went out with friends for my first nightclub experience in (Rio Grande do Sul). I've really needed to dance the last few weeks and was so eager to get on the dance floor and release myself. The club was a little ways out of town and a little smaller than what I might be use to, but the women. Woah-Man!!! OMG!!! ... It's simply ridiculous how many beautiful looking women there are in Brazil. It took a while before I finally stopped saying WOW! So many model types in one place and I'm just talking about the club. 9 times out of 10 (if on looks alone) you can't go wrong and those are great odds. After the wow factor began to subside (enough where I could actually start thinking clearly again) I figured, I might as well have fun right, create some stories. So I noticed someone intriguing and so started my approach. Halfway in I realized, "wait a minute, my Portuguese is crap, what the hell am I going to say." If I have any game at all, it's in my conversation and even then, I have to be up for it. I was so up for it, but I realized my game had a serious flaw, and so I dropped the ball. DAMN!!! Later I mentioned this to a friend who enlightened me, "Dude! You're American. You automatically got game. Just talk in English."
Me the idiot replyed, "but she won't understand a word I'm saying." Answer: "No, but don't worry about it, trust me it will work." Go figure right. By then the club had gotten thick, the girl had got missing, the music had gotten really loud, and the dance floor was calling my name. Back home in bed at 5:30am. Another interesting and spankin night in Brazil.
