Microtel Indianapolis Airport
Arrived at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway around lunch time and took a self-guided tour of the museum and a track tour in an IMS bus. Ok track tour. Overall, the Speedway experience was pretty disappointing. You would think it would be some big, extravagant thing - nope. Charlotte, NC's track was much better with the 80 year old lady driving us around the track at 80 mph! (that was on our last 2 week tour around the US).
I found a couple of wineries to visit, so we chose one that was located downtown. When you think of Indiana you don't really think of wine, but they made close to 30 wines and I tried 7 of them. They were really good! We walked next door to the Sun King brewery, which apparently had recently opened, but they only have tours/tastings on Thurs, Fri, Sat. Oh well...
Drove directly through downtown Indianapolis to get to our hotel. Wasn't too busy, so I didn't think it was too bad, but then again, I wasn't the one that was driving! :)
For dinner, Michael suggested Olive Garden. Now, I would never had suggested that because he's never been to one and never really seemed like he wanted to go. As most of you know, it's really good! Michael did enjoy his dinner and we both agreed that it was better than the Old Spaghetti Factory we ate at in Minneapolis.
Just something I thought was funny at the hotel - the fitness center is located on the 3rd floor. That's strange enough, but the 3rd flood is a smoking floor. Wouldn't you think that most people wouldn't want to workout on the stinky smoking floor? :)
Can't wait for tomorrow - Columbus Zoo and hopefully Jack Hanna will be there!
