We flew in (on a very nice Royal Jordanian Airline flight I might add!), after whiling away the hours at the incredibly expensive Ataturk International Airport, in Istanbul...(I kid you not, it made Heathrow look cheap)...it was $4-5 for a Snickers bar!
Anywho we dropped down in Jordan, discovered that there were no Atms, had to exchange money (at least it was a pretty decent exchange rate 0.93 dinars to a Euro...I have decided to cease converting in dollars as it is far too depressing!)
Purchased our visas and went through...
I had a bit off an accident on my way in though...as we were going through security to exit the airport, I went to take off my moneybelt and flashed a bit of my stomach at the security guards and wow...apparently that's just not done...I received some wide eyed stares (of excitement or lust, I'm ot quite sure...who knew that my abs were so stunning :p)
We made our way to our hostel, which apparently had two names as several sources say that it is called the Sydney hostel and many other say that it is called the Sydney Hotel...ahh the joys of travel...anywho we got ripped off by a cabbie (it wasn't very much but for him he made quite a profit) but we got the last laugh as he ended up driving us around for a half hour trying to find our place...hahaha
Our first full day in Amman, we wandered around looking for the Citadel and the Temple of Hercules and got lost (because the roads make little sense as do the maps, as the city is built on hills...)
We found it and walked around a bit and I think I received a few rude comments from some young'uns...I just got that kind of a vibe...
We eventually found a place to eat...for 10 dinars all together we had a feast and this was at one of the pricier restaurants...twas lovely!
For our third night in the city (and our last) we switched to much nicer lodgings and had a delightful dinner, that cost Sam and I 1.8 Dinars (about 2 Euro) and we had : big pita bread (x 3), hommus, bean dip, falafel chili, cokes (x2)
I love it when I can eat alot for little!
