Hey everybody!
I have arrived!
I'd like to say that my first day in England was incredibly productive, however it was mostly spent sleeping and drinking, as I was trying to soak up the local culture! :p I feel that I did a good job!
I blame the airplane! 6 hours is far too short to watch the movie, eat two meals and have a decent sleep...
My trip got off to a lovely start with the customs officials at Heathrow, telling me that they might send me back to Canada, because my travel plan was vague...The official said that when I went through immigration, I should be very specific...Ironically enough, after I was terrified that I'd get sent back, I picked up my luggage and didn't have to go through any immigration! So luckily the worry was useless..
My travel buddy Sam met me at the airport and then we proceeded to get to his house [which is nowhere near London mom...whoops]
Then the tube station that we had to go to was broken down because of the crazy winds and so we had to walk there from the next closest station, as we needed to get to the train station that was upstairs...
All is well though, I'm here and alive!
We leave tomorrow morning at 3 am for Stansted airport and then we're off to Oslo to actually start travelling!
Cheers
Ali
P.S. I'd like to give a big thank you to everyone has helped me to prepare for this trip, whether it was financially, emotionally or with information and contacts!
Thanks everyone! I'm lucky to know such wonderful people!

Wilkommen in Europa!
Hey Ali!
Wilkommen in Europa! Ich hoffe, dass wir uns irgendwo treffen können. Und wenn es nich in Deutschland ist, kann ich vielleicht dich irgendwo in Östeuropa treffen. Viel Spass beim Anfang deiner Reise! Bis bald!

When in Oslo
Hey Ali, I'm troubled by the sight of you wearing a Guinness hat but drinking wine...sacrilege!
When in Oslo, try the lutefish.
Signed,
A better fisherman than your dad...
Have a wonderful trip!
Glad you are off on the first official st - Norway (UK has been done by you before). Give my best to Sam and hope the 2 of you take care of each other. Try to avoid those European winds...here it is back to 0.
Thinking of you continually,
Mom
Adventurous Ali..
My heroine! You are awesome and brave. It's warm here again (hurray!). Canada gave you a great farewell on Wednesday though with the coldest day yet this winter (not really that cold anyway..).
Have fun on the first bit of your journey, lots of love and luck! I am also living precariously through your journey..
