We travelled all day yesterday. Started early in the morning in Boca, we took the boat to Almirante, then transferred on to a bus that took us to David. At David we stayed for few hours while waiting for our bus to Panama City. Near the central Plaza, we watched the movie Zoolander [too funny] just to passed the time, afterwards we sat and waited at the bus terminal until it was time to leave. The bus was our first luxury bus since Mexico, we froze all night as the air conditioning was on full blast. The scenery of endless rain forests was, for lack of a better word, boring. By now we were so used to rain forests, that we slept most of the way to Panama City; we crossed the continent-dividing bridge into South America (officially); and arrived in the modern main bus terminal at the outskirts of Panama City at sunrise.
The Lonely Planet wasn't accurate about location of the bus terminal so we were lost. After a quick decision, we took a taxi to a hotel near the center of the city, but the hotel was out of business, thanks again LP. So we jumped on a city bus, which was packed during the morning rush hour, and headed to the old town, Casco Viejo. By the time we checked in at Hotel Volcan, we were dead tired. After more than 24 hrs of continuous travel, and little sleep, we took a deserved shower and a nap. The hotel was fairly secure, and at $12/night for both of us, it was a steal of a deal. We also had access to a rooftop pool and a Cable Television in our room. For the first time in our entire trip, except for one night in Belize, we can watch TV, as much as we wanted!!!HBO, ESPN, FOX and more....It was as if we found civilization again.
