The memories of yesterday still bitter in my heart. We got up early today to catch the bus to Lago de Atitlan. A quick change of scenery will at least ease the pain I thought. The 6am bus was full of foreigners, all heading to the lake, I guess that's why the nickname of Panajachel is also called Gringotanengo. The bus ride was the best I have experienced in Guate, occasionally some Mayans would get on carrying stuff for the market. As we arrived closer to Pana, the beautiful lake and its surrounding Volcanos suddenly showcased in our window view. As the bus twist and turned down towards Pana, the lake seemed to play hide and seek with passengers who want to take a picture of the it. Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera no more...how dissapointing.
The small hippy community of Panajachel was very relaxing, the street market was lively. We checked in at a low budget hotel, only 40Q per night. We got the highest room, great view of the lake and the town. There is a mandarina tree growing at our front door. We rested a little before venturing to the lake, where many locals selling crafts etc. Me n Juliette ate some lunch at the lake while watching locals and tourists mingle at the docks. The scene is little chaotic; the view is unbelievable; the most beautiful lake in front of me. As I'm absorbing all this some of the purity of the travel (which was lost yesterday on Agua) starting to flow back to my heart. At night, I bought some firecrackers (first time since my childhood days in China). Me and Juliette played until we were bored, just like kids. I hope she didn't think I was immature... but who care, when will I ever play with firecrackers again! We had some roadside tacos for dinner and went to sleep.
