We checked out of our beloved hotel de revolution! We took the black smoke polluting chicken bus to the Antigua bus station. The road was jammed and bus was packed and we were inhaling more pollution than a coal factory worker in Shenyang, China. But the chicken bus had lots of character -- decorated in religious artifacts and loud music blasting from its speakers. We arrived in Antigua in mid afternoon, checked in at posada ruiz 2, which only costing Q 30 ($4) for two. One thing we both noticed was that Guatemala is very cheap to travel, both transportation and hotels were much cheaper than Mexico. We walked about beautiful Antigua for a while, the colonial city (once the capital of Spanish Central America until the volcano erupted and earthquakes destroyed the city), was full of Gringos, but friendly gringos. Volcan Agua, although obscured by the clouds, showcased itself as place of gods overlooking the city. I hope Quetzalcoatl was in a happy mood.
