Everyone travel for different reasons. Some take a vacation to relax from the stress of life, some try to get away from life/family or political problems, and some just have money to blow and want to experience something different. Well, as I understood it, my reasons were a mix of all three perhaps, but mostly I want to see the true beauty in life.

A fellow traveller whom I meet in my travels in the past once spoken to me about his view of the difference. That given two persons, same circumstances, same background, and same destination of travel, one would enjoy the experiences to its full extent, while the other would be terrified and worried from beginning to end. We all have fears and insecurities in life as well as in travelling, it's how we dealt with it and how we view it in a positive or negative way that makes the travel experiences either pleasant or not.

On this trip, there would be more unpleasant surprises than I hoped for. At the exact moment of those bad experiences I was terrified like a prey to a predator. However, in the end, when I looked back, all the experiences, especially the negative ones, truly defined me for this trip. It had given me confident in life like no other time, it had opened my eyes to a world stereotyped by media that no longer was true, and through this travel I saw the true beauty in life.

I'm off on the Greyhound from Ottawa to San Diego California. The start of my trip....well there are mix feelings of anxiety, optimism, and wonder...I just came back from 7 months stay in Los Angeles this summer. Now I'm going back to familiar place of my first destination...California.
