The pool we selected has a swim up bar and we were able to get the bartender on automatic refill. The water was not cold at all, but quite refreshing. The sun began to set and then, to the south there formed a rainbow, as the rainbow became brighter, a second rainbow formed. What an excellent way to experience our last evening in Costa Rica.
The other evening, returning from Lake Arenal, we came upon a police checkpoint and we were pulled over. I greeted the officer with the only Spanish I knew, "Bueno Noches". He was an older police officer, with a pot belly, and a huge pistol; he looked like an older version of Deputy Barney Fife
Dinner was interesting, Kathy had a interesting roast chicken disk with mash potatoes (a specialty of Costa Rica) and I had a Mayan beef dish that was pretty tasty. It was romantic, with candles, low light and wine. It was nice to be waited on, for sure.
The resort has some comedy act, developed around the Village People, being performed, but it was all in Spanish, and included some audience participation. We listen for a short time and found it interesting that the Village People act seem to be lost on the majority of the audience. Maybe the audience was the wrong generation for the Village People.
Later we were entertained by a large (6 inch across) crab that was stopped in the middle of the path. It was about two blocks distance from the beach, so it was a ways from its normal habitat. I am sure that all the iguanas had returned to their holes, as the temperature had dropped toward 80 degrees.
Next up, packing and preparing for the 120 kilometer drive back to San Jose. We are taking the CR 27 roadway, that is advertised as the newest highway in Costa Rica.
