WOW so many experiences,  Today in DC at about 2 PM we had a 5.8 Earthquake.  The Smithsonian was a shaking. We are all okay the cellular services in DC were overwhelmed.  Kathy got shaken out of her building also.  All the Smithsonian buildings (Museums primarily) were evacuated into the Mall and when I left to ride the metro to Crystal City they were not allowing people to reenter the museums. I got on the Metro about 3:30.  Boy was it crowded, all the federal agencies released their personnel from work, to perform building inspections.  The Washington Monument was closed due to cracks in the top. The National Cathedral lost three of four of the ornamentation's on the highest points.

When everyone leaves at the same time, you can imagine the gridlock!!

2011 is being a banner year for us  There were tornado's, snow storms, and earthquake in DC and Hurricane Irene is coming this weekend.

We are all fine , what an experience on the over crowded Metro.

Plus I started school this evening.

So glad to know you are both o.k. Thanks to Kathy for getting in touch
with Daphne. The tv said do not use cell phones from here. That was
a pretty good one. It has made some people here double check their
disaster plans. Good luck with school. Love-
