Ich habe nach 5 Tagen auf Victoria Island feststellen duerfen, wie gross hier das Interesse an meiner Person und meiner Reise ist - sogar auch wenn ich ohne Motorrad unterwegs war(!). Vorallem die Gastfreundschaft der Einheimischen war ueberwaeltigend und verschaffte mir 2 Nächte unter Dach von ihnen. Vielen Dank!
Der Mechaniker von BMW konnte nach Einschaetzung meiner Geschichte vom Oelfund in Neuseeland und einer groben Inspektion des Kardans keine Reparaturen fuer notwendig befinden.
Auch muss ich aus Kostengruenden die Idee aus dem Kopf schlagen, mit der Faehre die sehr attraktive Fahrt von Port Hardy nach Prince Rupert entlang der unberuehrten Westkueste Kanadas zu reisen. Also mache ich mich auf eine kleine Reise durch die Insel, die mich auf Schotterstrassen in die Region um Cowichan Lake bringt. Eine interessante Testreise um mich auf Rechtsverkehr und anspruchsollem Fahrgrund (und Wetter) einzustimmen.

After 5 days on Vancouver Island I realized how big the apprechiation and interests on my person and my jounrey around the world is - even when I wasn't on the way on the motorbike (!). Especially the hospitality of the locals was overwhelming and brought me two nights in a home of them. Thank you very much!
The mechanic of BMW couldn't locate a reason to do any work on my bike after listening to my stories of the found of gearbox oil in New Zealand. Even after a rough inspection into the cardan drive.
According to its costs, I also need to cancel the idea to travel up from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert on ferry along the untouched and very attractive western coast and islands of Canada. Therefore I go on to do a little joyride around the island how I got on gravel roads into the region of Cowichan Lake. A very interesting testdrive to get used of right traffic and advanced road (and weather) conditions.
