In the afternoon we headed to Portoroz but before we got there we passed some Caves. I have always loved caves and insisted on going. Luka did try to talk me out of it. I used my forearm crutches as by this time the legs were quite good. Well that sure did not last. Should have listened to the man. There was a train into the deeper levels and once there, a guide led you up and down, up and down, up and down, I am talking hills, for what was supposed to be a Kilometer but it was either a fib or the longest Kilometer I have ever walked. i tried to take photos but gradually stopped, but there are a few for people to see. We fell behind and then I really had to give up. Like magic, a wheelchair was at the top of the next hill and Luka ran for it and pushed me over the last two hills which were steep. We arrived at Portoroz which is on the coast of Slovenia last night - Slovenia has all of 40 Kilometers of coast and this town is the main port there. The hotel is called a Life Class Hotel and contains a full spa with all the works if you want it. The Pool is unbelievable. Gigantic salt water pool indoors and another lap type pool outside. Since I had just strained my legs doing the Caves, I was very glad to have the pool and used it a few times. The salt water meant one could do a full aqua-size routine without having to work hard to stay afloat. The staff could not have been nicer and provided bags of ice for the knees and a great breakfast. The next day they were sore but i went to the pool again and they got better very fast. I should have walked up to the Castles in Ljubljana and Bled and seen the view and that would have been easier and I would not have been in the mood for caving. All is well that ends well though and I am great.
This is the day I wanted to go to the Plitvice Lake and Forest area. See this video and you will know why. However, it is just too difficult for my scooter (check the boardwalks out).
