I am still in Opatija and today we drove to another smaller town called Rovinj which was originally an island port built by the Romans.  It was later attached to the mainland by filling in the channel. Luka's younger brother had another group out and they were touring the town so we joined them.  It was fun to be in a bigger group and to be honest made me long for the days when I could easily travel on a tour.  They had a guide who knew the town so we got all the details and then went to a late lunch and sat and talked for a long time.  They were from Australia and California and very relaxed and funny.  i took pictures on the drive to Rovinj and then a lot of the wall, the gate, the church and the square, things you will find in most of the older towns in Croatia that were inhabited by the Romans and then under Venetian control.  When we got back, I decided to drive around the town of Opatija as it is quite unique and has a big beach area with public swimming right in the center of town.  Lots of shops, of course, and many cafes.    i later went to the pool in the hotel and found it to be warm and I mean warm - like bath water.  I asked about it and was told bluntly that if I wanted cold water I should go to the sea???  Now for the pictures.
