Today, because it was our last full day in Barcelona, was a crazy day, filled with many different locations and activities.

We started our day at the site of the 1992 Olympics.  We only were able to see the stadium, where the opening ceremonies and track events were held.  I guess that the stadium is currently used to host large sporting events, like the European Track Championships, as well as large concerts and other shows.  Visible from the Olympic Stadium is the strangest communication antenna/tower that I have ever seen.  According to our bus tour, the Telefonica Company, the largest communications company in Barcelona (or Spain?) hired an architect to assure that the tower would be visually appealing, as well as functional.  Although I cannot personally attest to the function-ability of the tower, it most certainly is interesting to look at.

Following the Olympic Stadium, we rode cable cars to get to the Castle of Barcelona.  The castle was clearly built so that the Royals could get a view of the entire city, including the ability to watch for enemies coming on ships into their large harbor.  Currently, the site is a tourist destination, but that didn't stop me from snapping lots of pictures.

After our fide back down the mountain, we headed to the beach, where we rented bicycles and biked around the marina and the Gothic Quarter of the city.  Now, for those of you who don't know, I haven't ridden a bike since the 4th grade, so the fact that I am still alive to write this blog is, in itself, a miracle.  We were able to get some photos that we weren't able to get on our bus tour, as well as walk around a terrifically interesting part of the city.

After returning our bikes, we took a walk to Port Olympic for some paella and more sightseeing.  Unfortunately, it started to rain, so our sightseeing adventure was cut short.

Tomorrow, we leave for Amsterdam at 6:35 am. Simply waking up is going to be a feat for me, but I know that more adventures are to come!

Paella!
Love the Barcelona leg of your trip! I especially enjoyed the photos of the church. Definitely needs more description of the food though. :-) Yeay paella!

I was reminded when you talked about enjoying the wifi in your hotel room to catch up on the latest news and gossip... did you hear the sad news that Michael Jackson died?
