Naka suba si (Good morning)!

Well, today we will go out on our first visit: Bandia Reserve. It's a natural park where you can enjoy a safari and appreciate the beauty of the Baobabs (national tree).

It's early in the morning (08h00) and the breakfast area is already open. We took our breakfast (caffe-latte, bread, croissants, ...) and we are ready to go!

It's 9 o'clock and our guide has arrived. Another 2 couples are also coming on the jeep with us (one is from another hotel).

The Bandia Reserve is not very far from Saly and from our hotel. It's a 30 minutes ride by jeep (more or less 15 km from Saly).

Around 09h45, we arrived at Bandia. After leaving the main road, we entered in a dirt road and finally arrived at the Bandia Reserve main entrance. Our guide bought our tickets and we went with another local guide inside the reserve. This local guide is specially trained to spot places for better viewing the animals or nests, so it's recommended that you hire one for your visit.

Remark: The local guides speak french, so try to hire a english speaking one if you don't speak a word of french.

At Bandia Reserve we will be able to see much of the marvellous native flora and many of Africa's loved animals, many of which have gradually disappeared through time.

Within a safe distance, we are taken near the animals. It's a real amazing opportunity for wild nature photographer aficionados. In here we can see giant Baobabs, antelopes, gazelles, ostriches, giraffes, buffaloes, monkeys, birds, crocodiles, giant turtles and also rhinoceros.

There's also a burial chamber on the hollow of a thousand year old Baobab with actual human bones and our guide is actually a great storyteller.

Our spanish companions are wonderful couples. Very amusing, funny and communicative. They are Lydia and Antonio (from Madrid), Laura and Rafa (from Málaga).
It's time to have a drink and relax a little from the visit at the bar, where we can overlook the crocodiles lurk looking like floating logs in the water.

The visit to the Bandia Reserve is over and although the reserve is not huge, I found it an amazing experience. It's time to go back.

At 13h15 we arrived at the hotel. It's time to have lunch. Our new friends will go out to have lunch outside the hotel so we will see each other again later on the beach.

The restaurant have already some guests having lunch and the daily dish is always a different kind of local fish. Again, our lunch is tasty and the staff very friendly. After lunch, we went to our room to keep away from the hot Sun.

Today, in the afternoon we went to the beach.
The Sun is hot, the sand is hotter but it's time to relax again. Oh, what a life!

The water is hot, but with some algae today. It's only the entry line but past that, it's hot and clean water again.

It's time to eat something, so we are off to the bar and pool area. After eating we went for the pool. The water is also warm, heated by the hot Sun the whole day. Our new friends are there by the pool and so we joined them for a swim and chat.

It's almost dinner time, so it's time to head back to our room and have a shower.

At 20h15, we went to have dinner. Today's band is already playing. At dinner time, the hotel restaurant always have an entrance, two main courses to choose and dessert. As always, everything was tasty and delicious, so congratulations to the chef and his staff!

After dinner we always take a walk inside the hotel premises and by the beach. Outside there's virtually no light at all, so that's why we don't go out very far. After that, it's time to go to bed...

Byeeee and see you in the morning... very early!!
