Hi all
Got into Banff for a week skiing. I got all my gear from the parents and i dont know if its a good thing or not. The bag is massive and its on shagging wheel not ideal for backpacking but at least i got to get rid of a bag that i had being lugging around since LaPaz Bolivia. It coming to the end of the season here so i was expecting much but the snow was fairly good with fresh dumps every second day. I got up there the first day and getting used to the skies after so long was hard especially since i think the boots where too big. My first attempt of coming down a black was only a drop off which i had to cross to get to more slopes which ended up with me going head first into the bank. Im glad i had the helmet cause it was soure even with it on.
The following day i went out with Holly an Australian girl form Melbourne. She was a border but i didnt hold that against her she was good company. That day we went to Lake Louise which was a really good mountain with really long runs. The next day out was with two more bleedin border out of the room. They were good enough craic and after spend the morning on the skies i did the imortal sin and swap with Richie and like a pig to shit i was flying down the slopes straight away.
On the final day skiing i got separated from Richie and finished the day out alone. While coming down a black moggle slope i hit a moggle bad which threw me off balance send me into a straight line down the slope. I couldn't slow down and the only way out was 150m of moggles to a flat area to stop in.
We went out one of the night and it was 25cent pot of beer for 2 hours of course everyone was pissed mainly also because they were all ten. But i joined in regardless. The folowing day went up as far as Jasper this little town north of Banff. All the sight along the way were brilliant. Walking through forest to find a frozen waterfall at the end. Glacier ice coming down the mountain but the tour was a load of bollochs. I could of drove to the lookout area in a shitty fiesta and they had us in a 4x4 monster bus some rip off. We had a few words to no end. Getting back from Jasper we got on a bus straight away to Calgary and went for a drink in none other than an Irish bar. Mike and me were stayin in the HI hostel in probably the dodgiest area of town. Bums and addicts roamed freely across the street. Poppy out from door unexpectedly asking for change with a quick reply from us NO!!
Our flight out the following morning was at 9am and arising at 6.30 we thought we had lots of time. Outside it had snowed for only an hour and it was 3" deep with the heavy snow still fallin we could not get a taxi at all. Knowing we missed the flight we phoned to change the flight but due the the snow the flight was cancelled anyway relieve we booked on for the next flight and went for the fry. When the snow stopped 5 hours later 40cm of snow fell savage.
At the airport we nearly missed the flight. The screen was saying departs at 6 so we sat for food and beer. Until smoky went out for a quicky. He seen on the screen flight bording last call. We dashed for the security check and they had mike stopped for a good search while we went on ahead. His face was funny when i told him the flight had just left. The poor auld scousa but we made it after all. Vancouver next stop

Another Frozen lake
I leaned back and kept the tip of the skies up. The best suspension in the world didn't have a patch on what my legs were doing. I was doing about 10 moggles a second if not more. I went past this fella at such a speed i think the wind from me knocked him over. I came out at the end unscaved and delight. I nearly went and did it again, hell of a rush.We went out one of the night and it was 25cent pot of beer for 2 hours of course everyone was pissed mainly also because they were all ten.
