We slept and spent the next day just relaxing in Ulan Bataar after a very tough 20 days on the road in Mongolia.

We said our goodbyes to Amit and Jo, then Jen, Charlie and I caught a 13 hour bus across the Russian border to the city of Ulan Ude.

Ulan Ude was a nice place to stop for a night as it had a couple of very nice, cheap restaurants and it was home to the worlds biggest Lenin Head…

We spent the following morning admiring the giant head then started the long journey to Moscow, with an 8 hour train ride along the shores of Lake Baikal to Irkutsk.

It was our first experience on Russian railways and it was all very pleasant apart from the groups of men who use the journey as an excuse to take their tops off and indulge in a vodka binge.
