After such a long journey we were very glad to enjoy our time in Xi'an. We spent a spectacular afternoon cycling the city walls and sampling the cities street food. Then, a day at the cities most famous attraction the Terracotta Army.
We spent the afternoon with a guide who took us round the three different "pits", and explained the reasons behind all of the armies small details. It was a great afternoon and undoubtedly the highlight of China so far.

The curse of the school holidays struck again as we could not book a train and were forced to take a 14 bus from Xi'an to Beijing. We vowed, hopefully for the last time, never to take a bus in China again as we arrived in to the hostel at 1.30am.

Unfortunately, our e-mails and telephone calls informing the hostel that we would be arriving late had been ignored. So after fantasizing about a comfortable bed for 14 hours we had to sleep in a chair. In reception. Until 8am.
