We spent three nights in Delhi, but did not see much of the city other than the British Embassy.

Border officials seem to have a preference to stamp on empty pages which has resulted in my passport not having any clean pages left. So we spent a lot of time organizing an emergency travel document which will take me as far as Bangkok where I can then apply for a new passport.

Once we had the emergency travel document sorted we took a four hour train to Kalka and then a seven hour train to the Himalayan hill station of Shimla. The train ride was magnificent as we rumbled up through the Himalaya's and 102 different tunnels before reaching the summer administrative headquarters of the British Raj.
