We spent just a night in Alleppey so that we could spend some time on the Alleppey Backwaters. The backwaters are a network of natural canals and lakes, which the locals use as their transport system.

I suppose the best way to describe it would be the third worlds answer to Venice.

We spent a really great day paddling our way through the network of canals and lakes with our guide Anthony.
I am pretty sure Anthony had ever heard of, or seen a contact lense before. This caused a very humorus moment whilst he was chatting to Charlie, and her contact lense fell out. Anthony screamed with absolute horror as he thought one of his guests retina had just come loose! He eventually calmed down when Charlie explained that she still had her vison and we all ahd a chuckle about it.

After our day in the canoe we took a 2 hour bus north to Fort Cochin.
