We spent our time in Nkhata bay relaxing and enjoying the lake, and after two nights we caught the Ilala ferry to Chizimulu Island.

The ferry is a large boat from colonial times which spends its time chugging along lake malawi dropping passengers off at various stops.

I dont know what it is about Africans but when there is competition for a seat on public transport, they completly lose their minds. You would think they are trying to escape the death penalty instead of the punishment of a marginally worse seat.

Inside the boat it has tiny doorways and swarms of people with lots of luggage, moving through 3rd and 2nd class with a large backpack on was quite a challenge.

I was worried Charlie was going to make it ok. although her aggressive side really came in to play as she pushed, burrowed and punched her way through to first class. She was there so long before me that she had become worried, and put down her bag to come and help her much larger boyfriend - very embaressing.

After the exprerience of the Ilala we threw our bags off at Chizimulu Island.
