We caught a flight very early on Monday 21st and flew North to Djibouti, followed by a flight South to Nairobi, a 3 hour wait then another flight further south to Zanzibar. Which was all rather exhausting.

Thankfully Charlie had a friend of friend (Salum) waiting for us at the airport and he took us to his house and we rented a room off him.

We dropped off our bags and set off for a walk round Stone Town.
On our walk we came across a Dutch guy called Nichelle who had been living in Zanzibar for the past 8 years. He spoke swalli and seemed to know everybody on the island, and he was the perfect candidate to show us round.

We spent two days with Nichelle, he would show us the sights and introduce us to the people, and we would keep him topped up with gin. The relationship worked beautifully. After two days in Stone Town with Nichelle we gave him 5000 shillings to say goodbye and made plans to head towards Jumbiani on the east coast of the island.
