Day 7 Paris
Entry 14 of 21 | show all | print this entry |
Day 7 Paris to Dublin This is my last day in Paris, I was suppose to go to the Eiffel Tower again, but really, I am tired and I am going to sleep in. I am flying to Dublin tonight. I was so tired last night, I got in late, I was wet from the rain. I just want to sleep today. I have been a road warrior this whole trip and I am just tired. This is a pretty boring day because I am not really going to do anything today. I am going to go downstairs and just shop at some of the local shops around here. Then back to the hotel to pack. I get lucky on the hotel; I do not have to check out until 3:30. Which is good, because my flight does not leave until 8 tonight. I know the airport is at least an hour or hour and a half away. It is the Paris Beauvais airport, which is about 50 miles NW of Paris. There is a shuttle you can take for 13 euro. I decide to leave for the airport early, especially after what happen in London. I really do not want to have to pay for another flight like I had to for France. So I check out at 3:30 and realize I have not eaten yet, so I have the hotel hold my luggage and go eat. Back at the hotel, I take a taxi to the shuttle. I still get there a couple of hours early. I am first in line to check in. The lady tells me my bag is over the limit and will be 14 euro or I can take something out. I opt to pay the 14 euro. Funny, it does not have anything in it that it did not have for my flight here! So I have to get out of the line and go pay at a cashier. I get to the cashier and she says that will be 40 euro. I am like WHAT, the lady said 14 euro. Oh no, she says, you must have misunderstood her. I am like, no, I repeated it back to her and she said it was 14 euro. So I told her never mind and went back to get my bag to take something out and put in my backpack. I get back to the counter and the lady says my bag has already gone back and I cannot take anything out, I would just have to pay the 40 euro! I stand there and argue with her for a few futile minutes and go back and pay the 40 euro! Man, they are really good at ripping off tourist here! That would be Ryan Airlines that rips you off, so beware! This is the second time they have ripped me off. At this point I am actually glad to be getting out of France ! One thing about their airline is that they have the best on time rate in the industry. So I get to Dublin with no additional issues. It is late and I am looking for my shuttle to the hotel. I get there as the shuttle is driving off so I step out into the street and flag him down. Because, at this point, you either run over me or give me a ride. He stopped and gave me a ride. Then he informed me that this was the last shuttle to the hotel for the night! Wow, my luck must be changing. The hotel is great! They have glass elevators and a nice indoor garden. The rooms are large; the staff is very friendly and helpful. My converter would not work, so they GAVE me one that would work and offer to come to my room to make sure it worked OK. After looking at their convertor, I finally figure mine out and took theirs back to them. I called downstairs for Ice, and they brought me some, along with some Diet Cokes. Man, I like this place ! Oh yeah, they have towel warmers in the bathroom which also serves as a great place to put your pajamas while you're in the shower. I am going to get me a couple of those for my house! Good end to a day ! ...zzzzzzzz
