In keeping with how the last couple of days have been going for me, I just typed a nice big update, and promptly lost everything. Since there are only 2 computers here for a 300-room hostel, I can't spend any time re-typing it all. With all the overland travel and whatnot, it is practically impossible to keep this thing up to date in any sort of reasonable fashion. I feel like giving up already. I will however try to do some sort of a proper update once I get to Split later today (unless more stuff goes wrong). If you're waiting to see photos, don't hold your breath. I seem to have lost all 130 of my snapshots taken to date...something is wrong with my camera card. Nothing, nada, empty, gone.
Cara the World Traveller = tired, frustrated, lost, annoyed, hungry, photo-less.
But such is independent travel....and today is a new day.

urk!
Maybe you're getting all the pain in the butt stuff out of the way early so that the contrast feels extra pleasant when things start to fall in line? Sorry to hear you're feeling bummed out. I hope your next entry manages to stay written and get posted, and that it contains happier news. But hey--no pressure to post if it's adding to your stress. We can handle (a little) suspense. ;-)
Take care. I hope things pick up--I'm sure they will!

ups and down
There will always be ups and down... But I understand it must be so frustrating, being at the other end of the world, when you thought you had planned every single detail or thought of mostly everything that can go wrong... We all want to see pictures... but the good thing about losing them is you will cherish those memories even more now that you can't really share them... Get lost in the beauty that surrounds you right now and forget it all... With everything you've been through in the past few months, loss of pictures and emails is very small... You will overcome it all!
Love you xxx
oh no!!
Don't lose heart. These things happen when you travel, and it's almost a blessing that they should happen early on in your trip (leaving the good stuff for later!). Stay strong. Don't let the little things get you down (your safe - that's all that matters). Keep your chin up and each new day brings new opportunities. Hang in there!!
Chin up, tiger!
Looks like you're starting with the tough times...don't worry, I promise it won't always be this difficult. One of the things you learn, while travelling, is how to roll with the punches, even when the punches hurt. It hasn't gone as planned? Well, find a way to make it work for you! Remember, I had to buy a new camera in the Hong Kong airport. Wish I was there with you!

enjoy the trip first
Hey
Enjoy the trip first. Inform the world second. your camera memory card may be on the fritz but your own memory works fine so go and take it all in.
