Hotel owner was v nice and has given us the lounge/kitchen area to ourselves. So we stocked the fridge up with beer, wine, coke and water.
Went for lunch at a restaurant on Newport Beach which was nice. The girls decided they didn't want to hit the beach but stay in hotel with free wifi. But the wifi went down after an hour so they regretted that.
Me and H took the Cliff Walk. This is a narrow, but paved, path which has the ocean and cliffs on one side and lots of huge 19th century mansions/grounds on the other. Many are still occupied so no photos or gawping allowed. We liked one gothic one which seemed deserted which turned out to be occupied by the local uni's admin dept.Very nice
We went down the 40 steps half way on the walk where we watched some mad young lad and his dog swim out some 200m to a rock. They made it back safe and sound. Traded photo taking with an American couple.
Path came to an end just round the corner. You could carry on across some nice flat rocks but H didn't have decent footwear on so we turned back at that point. One of the mansions, The Breakers, is open to public but was just closing (6pm).
Anyway we walked for a good 2 hours round trip.
Went for dinner at a pub Siby found on line before the hol - Brick Alley Pub.Had to wait 15 mins but worth it.Lovely steak au poivre for me.Had to stick to diet coke as was driving.Girls delighted to find a Jack Wills shop just down the road. But cracked open a few tinnies back at room while Family Guy was on (had to watch it being in Rhode Island).By the way a Quahog is a clam.
